Eigel says he was happy that he was able to build relationships with his fellow lawmakers, even though this was his first time in public office, adding: "I think that I've been able to set a very good foundation and develop the relationships so that I can get to the right transportation plan or that I can get to the right tax reform policy somewhere down the line."

The new senator didn't see any of his sponsored bills, including one that would have made it possible for students to opt out of statewide tests, make it through the Senate. He's on eight committees, and is vice chairman of the Senate's Education Committee.
