Gina Walsh
Democrat
Sessions in current seat: 3

District: Bellefontaine Neighbors (13th Senate)
Self Grade:
*
The St. Louis-area Democratic senators “collaboratively graded the session" as it relates to their constituents. They gave a F for bills relating to workers due to new labor union regulations; a C for college students because “state aid … will see additional cuts” leading to schools “likely raising tuition”; an A- for public schools due to more funding; an F for low-income state residents due to lack of Medicaid expansion; a D for voters due to the Greitens-connected nonprofit that doesn’t have to reveal its donors. In total, they graded the session an “incomplete,” because the “work of the Missouri Legislature will remain undone.”
Our Grade:
C
Two of Walsh's sponsored bills passed, including one that will allow St. Louis and St. Louis County voters to decide whether to up the sales tax to benefit the zoo. She, like Sen. Scott Sifton, serves on 11 committees and is the chair of the the Senate's Progress and Development committee. Though it isn't reflected in the grading rubric, she also was a vocal opponent of bills meant to curb the power of labor unions.
