"Legislatively, I would grade myself a C. I could not receive a hearing for HB 546, which would extend the current texting and driving ban to all drivers, and HB 599 on the A+ Schools Program didn’t quite make it to the finish line. When it comes to other administrative work, however, I would grade myself an A. This session I was tasked with chairing the Subcommittee on Corrections Workforce Environment and Conduct, which I believe was successful in drawing attention to the issues facing the Department of Corrections and bringing about some positive changes."

He's the chairman of the House subcommittee on Corrections Workforce Environment and Conduct, which had much to consider with the Department of Corrections' settlement of lawsuits and accusations of unfair working environments. One sponsored and one co-sponsored bills passed the House, with another co-sponsored bill making it through the Senate, too.
