A for budget, B on policy

Conway, the chairman of a committee that funds several state departments, says she was successful at making sure those programs had all the money they needed but didn't think she was "successful with pushing some of my priorities across the finish line ... so, I still have some work to do next year."

The veteran lawmaker chairs the public safety appropriations subcommittee, meaning much of her work is done on the state budget and not sponsoring or co-sponsoring bills. She focused on crime-related issues in many of the bills she sponsored or co-sponsored, three of which passed the House and one of which — regarding community college policing — made it through the Senate, too.
