Self Grade:
*

The St. Louis-area Democratic senators collaboratively graded the session as it relates to their constituents. They gave a F for bills relating to workers due to new labor union regulations; a C for college students because “state aid … will see additional cuts” leading to schools “likely raising tuition”; an A- for public schools due to more funding; an F for low-income state residents due to lack of Medicaid expansion; a D for voters due to the Greitens-connected nonprofit that doesn’t have to reveal its donors. In total, they graded the session an “incomplete,” because the “work of the Missouri Legislature will remain undone.”

A member of eight committees, Chappelle-Nadal also found success in getting four bills through the Senate. But the one she was most vocal about, a measure to help buyout people with homes near the West Lake Landfill, was defeated by the House in the final hours of the regular session and none of her other bills made it to Greitens' desk.
