St. Louis hospitals treated nearly 400 children for gunshot wounds between 2008 - 2013

In 2014, a team of doctors from St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital examined the patient records of 398 gunshot victims 16 years or younger who were treated in St. Louis over a five-year period. The majority of patients were African American and male. More than half the shootings were categorized as assault.
