In both Missouri and the U.S., life expectancy rates decreased again this year. The state has declined more quickly than the national average since 2012. Experts from the Center for Disease Control say that major reasons for the nationwide decline include an increase in suicide rates, a lack of mental health care and the opioid crisis.
