State appropriations for Missouri’s public four-year universities have declined by 39% since 2000

On average, the state of Missouri is providing less funding per student to its public four-year universities. Decreases in appropriations require schools to generate funding from other sources, such as tuition and grants. State universities received an average of about $6,500 per full-time student iduring the 2018-2019 school year. That’s down from more than $10,000, the average per student 20 years ago.
